Will saw his doctor for a checkup yesterday. He got 3 shots and is due to come back in 2 months for a couple more. The doctor was pleased with his progress and said he is meeting expectations for his age group, especially considering his prematurity, but agreed with me that we should send him to the developmental clinic for an evaluation since they are specially trained to recognize subtle signs of any delays and intervene before it becomes a major problem. I told doc about his feeding difficulties and she said some kids just don't like solid foods until they're able to feed themselves, in the meantime to keep trying. She recommended soy formula to substitute if I can't provide enough milk for him and end up needing surgery again - which would mean I'd have to toss out the milk a while again from the medications. His weight was a little less than I'd expected, so either he lost a little or the scales at my doctor's office and my gym are both off - or maybe the one at the pedi's office is just more accurate for small weights. In any case, he was 17 lb 3 oz, 26 1/2 inches long, and head circumfernece 17 1/4 inches. For his birth age that puts him at 4th percentile for weight, 3rd percentile for height and 9th percentile for HC. For his gestational age (the age he'd be if he was born on his due date) that puts him at the 35th percentile for weight, 41st for height and 43rd for HC.
I've lost over 30 lbs now, losing a little too much this week since I'm not feeling well and the gallstone issues effect my ability to digest anything. Still trying to find a doctor to help me, I have several people looking for me and today I intend to call my insurance to see if they have any ideas, and to look for providers in their directory within that specialty in other areas in town. It's a big city, somewhere there has to be a doctor who can do the proceedure I need in a reasonable amount of time. The best offer I've had so far is one who can see me for a consultation (not treatment, just an evaluation) on the 5th, and I don't think it's going to wait that long. The pain was less this morning when I woke up, but just as bad to eat as it has been.
I've been playing with www.makeoversolutions.com entertaining myself, made a couple pics of Will with hair! hehe.
