July 24 - out of order

Yes, I know this one is out of order :) I accidentally skipped one!

Another good day for Will! He gained another portion of an ounce. Still feeding very well. His CPAP machine was hurting his nose since it needs to press hard to make a seal and he kept wiggling out of it so they finally switched him to another attachment. These are called long prongs and go way up his nose and then down, and while it sounds very annoying he seems to like it much better since it isn't squashing his poor nose flat. He was sleeping much more happily after the swtich. He's also apparently doing well on poopy diapers, just as you'd expect from being fed!

News isn't so good on me. I went into the NICU early yesterday, and it's a good thing! I've gotten into the habit of eatting while I'm pumping and had a sandwich for lunch in the pump room, nothing unusual but it had cheese and mayo among other things. About 10 minutes later just as I got back to Will's room I started having pain under the bottom of my ribcage in a band across, in my back like where I had the bad back pain spells during pregnancy and the worst spot under my right rib. I quickly took some advil but I knew that was too late and wouldn't help. Within a couple moments I was in a cold sweat and having trouble breathing so I stumbled out and told the nurse in the hall I need help. They got me a wheelchair and took me down to the ER. By that point I was in so much pain I was having trouble staying conscious and was having mini-blackouts, swaying around, sweating and moaning. After some time they gave me an IV and some anti-nausea medication and some pain medication. Suspecting gall stones they did an ultrasound and sure enough, I have gall stones. So I have to contact my"regular" doctor today and find out about treatment, but I don't really have a "regular" doctor, I just see whoever is available at the little clinic here in town and they definitely don't have the facilities to treat something like that so I'll probably get a referral somewhere else. In the meantime I have to limit my fat and dairy intake since those can trigger another attack. No idea what I'm supposed to eat now, no fat, dairy or much sugar, I may as well eat wood shavings. So far I've been eating oatmeal, close enough :p This just has not been a lucky year for my health!
