July 28

Will is still doing great! He's still on canula, down to about 25% oxygen which is barely above room air, so that's wonderful news. He's making progress towards breathing on his own, but I think that is still a ways off. He gained another 1/2 ounce, and he's up to about 3 CCs milk every 3 hours. I'm told he's been sleeping and behaving himself all day but haven't had a chance to go see for myself yet.

I had a 2nd proceedure today using an endoscope to remove stones stuck in my bile duct. Apparently it's done semi-conscious and the medication makes you forget, it worked, I don't remember anything between a moment after the nurse saying she was starting a light dose of the medication and waking up because I needed to pump back in my hospital bed hours later. I have another plugged duct so I had to call the lactation specialist again, who actually worked with me instead of just telling me and showed me a trick to help clear it out faster.. and adjusted the settings on my pump for me. The others have all just basically said figure out what works best for you, she actually watched a few minutes and helped so that's nice and should be better. My throat is very sore from being ventilated during the surgery yesterday and having the endoscope stuffed down there today, so I don't have much voice. I didn't get anything to eat or drink all day, not even ice chips - I asked if I could have just a couple ice chips to soothe my throat this morning and they gave me a small sponge on a stick to dip in water and suck on, not very helpful. Now I have a glass of water but it's upsetting my stomach so I don't know if I'll manage any food today. Probably going to have to stay in the hospital at least tonight, don't know about tomorrow. My belly aches more today than yesterday and I've been having to use my push-button pain medication more which does more to make me tired than relieve the pain but oh well. It's still not as bad as an attack or the c-section so nothing major, small fries compared to what I've been through! My gassy roomate got discharged and I just got a new one, sounds like another elderly lady who just came from surgery so she's still sleeping it off.
