Will had another good, fairly uneventful day. His apnea is markedly improved, he went a stretch of over 8 hours with no apnea that required intervention! Still having minor spells, but not nearly as many major ones. He did very well on our practice breastfeeding today too, he opened up and tried to latch as soon as I had him in position which is great - usually I have to try a few minutes to get him to open his mouth but today he was ready to go before I was. He also is starting to get the hang of sucking, but I'm not sure if he can suck/swallow/breathe yet. Preemies aren't born with the same ability to suck that term babies have, they have to learn how. He's getting a trial bottle this evening to see how he does. I sewed tags with our name on them onto some warm preemie outfits I bought and took those in today for him, and tossed the crummy NICU outfits in his drawer into the laundry bin. I also put a sign on his isolette asking nurses to put his dirty clothes in a bag I left so they don't get lost, but I didn't bring in anything I'd be too heartbroken if it got lost just in case. His weight gain has slowed but he's still gaining,up to 4 lb 6.7 oz today. He's also down to just barely above room air again, about 23% oxygen.
