October 6

Will is growing so fast! At his last weight check 2 weeks ago he weighed 8lb 2 oz and was 20 inches long, today he's 9 lb 4 oz and 21 inches long. We had to replace the belts for his apnea monitor he's grown so much! His apnea has been acting up off and on, we were supposed to be trying to stop the caffiene now but instead he's had the dosage increased. We had some drama with that too, I tried all week to get ahold of the doctor and let them know he needed a refill, they finally got back to me on Wednesday when he had one dose left, then I had to drive over an hour away to take him to the company we rent his apnea monitor from to download the info. Usually they come to the house but they didn't have anyone available on that short of notice. The doctor called in his refill to the pharmacy here in town, who called me and informed me our insurance doesn't cover the caffiene and it's $436/month!! We can't afford that! So they called the doctor back to try to come up with an alternative medication, and figured out they only billed our main insurance, Will also has insurance through Social Security since he's counted as disabled from low birthweight. That insurance covered it completely, they scared me over nothing!
I finally tried out his swing and he likes it. He's starting to have larger blocks of time when he's awake/asleep and stretching out between feeds some days then going back to 21/2 - 3 hours between on other days. I asked the doc about his umbilical hernia since it's gotten visibly larger, and they checked it out and told me as long as it's still soft and can be pressed back in they're not concerned. It is still soft and grossly squishy.
