July 17

Will had another great day today! Weight stayed about the same, and his oxygen supplementation has been reduced a lot. He was on 40% day before yesterday, today he was on 25% and saturation stayed good in the 90s. Room air is 21%, so that's very good. He slept most of the day and didn't have any major apnea or anything else exciting.

He was sucking on his fist and I gave him a pacifier this evening, which before he's just spit out and he actually was sucking hard on it, pretty pleased with that. Justin had to go back to work today so I drove myself to the hospital. My van acted up a couple times but I got there. Now, the exciting part.. I got to change his diaper twice, and I finally got to hold him!! :D He feels like a loaf of bread, he weighs almost nothing! It was awesome, he looked at me for a minute all squinty eyed then turned his head towards me, snuggled in and went to sleep. His head was in the crook of my elbow and his feet didn't even go to my hand only my wrist. His stats stayed excellent and he tollerated it very well, no ill effects or signs of stress at all so hopefully this will be a more often thing soon. The nurse took a couple pictures for me when I first had him. I got to hold him for about half an hour before the nurse came to put him back into his isolette, and the poor little guy didn't like that part. As soon as he figured out he was back in his own bed he started crying, so I came and held his hand and talked to him and he settled down. So all around an excellent day!
