Mixed news this morning. Will has gained more weight, up to 3 lb 13 oz this morning! So that's the good news part. He's having some residual on his feedings, he was up to 7.5 CC and has been having a few CC leftover (undigested) when it's time for the next feed so they've reduced it back to 7. Not a major setback, but something worth noting.
I'm more concerned with his supplemental oxygen level, he's back up to almost 40%. I suspect this is because he has another training nurse working on him, when I called I was handed off between two nurses and it was obvious the one who answered the phone was the real nurse but didn't want to deal with talking to me so almost immediately handed me off to the trainee. The trainee was hoarse and after she handed me back to the real nurse since she couldn't tell me anything but he's doing fine and sleeping I heard her sneezing in the background. So I'm going to be calling the charge nurse to talk about that, I don't care if she has allergies or what the excuse is, if there's even a reasonable possibility someone has a cold they have NO BUSINESS working with my son, especially if their care is requiring his supplemental oxygen to be doubled. An increase of 10% (which brings it from 20s to 30s) is normal when he's annoyed but into the 40s means he's overstressed. So I'm not very happy with them this morning but I'm going to wait for shift change in an hour or two to call back and talk to the charge nurse I know, she's reasonable and knows where I stand.
I'm doing better, stronger this morning but can't sleep. Been up since 4, usually I go back to sleep after my 4 AM pumping but I just can't sleep today. Hoping that's a good sign my energy is coming back, I'm still pretty tired. Healing well, in almost no pain this morning.
