July 16

Will did very well again today! He gained more weight, up to 2 lbs 14 oz, 3oz above his birth weight. Doc says if he continues to do well we'll try tube feeding him in 4 days, 10 days after he coded to give his system time to recover since the intestines are high on the list of likely to be damaged by oxygen depravation in a situation like that.

He was on 40% oxygen yesterday and he was reduced to 35% overnight, which is a start. His daytime nurse is supposed to watch and when his saturation is consitently in the high 90s reduce the percentage oxygen he's getting to wean him off ofit, and she hasn't been doing that. I saw the doctor in the hallway and asked what the plan was with his oxygen since he's doing great and it's not getting reduced, I wanted to know if we were giving him a few days to relax while adjusting to the CPAP again. Turns out the nurse just wasn't doing her job as I suspected, he went right in and called her on it so she made a big show of checking on him the rest of the time we were there and turned down his oxygen twice more in the about 2 hours we were there after that. He was down to 28% when we left and still doing great.

He's also had the billi lights removed (jaundice light) so no more goggles! I looked for them for his baby book but someone must have thrown them away :( He was swaddled into a baby burrito (Justin thought he looked like a glow worm) and sleeping peacefully almost the whole time we were there, he sleeps much better swaddled except his feet kept escaping and waving around hehe.. We got a little video of him with the hiccups and heard him make a couple little cries when he woke himself up kicking around, and he half opened his eyes a few times but mostly slept, so that's good.
