Well, it's early but I don't have much to report today. We won't be able to go see Will for a couple days, I can't drive for a week and now I'm not tempted to try to get someone to give me a ride because we've been accidentally exposed to the stomach flu. So we're not going anywhere near there until we're sure we're not carrying it, it's apparently contagious with no symptoms for a day or two then you get very sick, so we're waiting. Probably just as well, I really need to stay home and rest so I can get better, going to be very bad if I get sick now though since my stomach function is already poor and painful.
In the meantime I called to check on Will this morning. He's doing great! He was born 2 lb 11 oz, and this morning he's up to 3 lb 11 oz, he's gained an entire pound!! He's up to 6.7 CC per feeding, increasing by .1 each feed which is every 3 hours still. I'm very satisfied with his progress there :) He's also breathing room air through the canula most of the time and only requiring minimal oxygen supplementation when he's moved or in a position he doesn't like as well, but still doing better with it. It won't be long before he doesn't need it anymore and can just breathe on his own.
I'm doing better too. In less pain this morning than I was last night, feeling more rested after having a night where I only had to wake up to pump and not to be messed with by nurses every couple hours every time I got to sleep decently. Much better to sleep in my own bed too! Still stiff and tired, but much less pain so it shouldn't be long before I'm healed up again. Just planning to sleep as much as I can in the next couple days to recover, force myself to take it easy and I'll be back at the NICU getting more insightful updates and pictures in no time :) For now I may not send updates every day for a while, if I have no changes to report I may just skip it for a couple days.. just so nobody worries if I skip one or two!
