Special update

I have good news this morning and I have GREAT news! This may be pretty incoherent, I'm really excited, upset, and chaotic. It occurred to me this morning that I missed something the doctor said at the care conference Wednesday. I asked if we could room in (we're required to stay overnight and care for Will for a 24 hour period right before discharge) on a weekend if at all possible, like if Will was doing perfectly well, but needed to stay a couple more days into the week to prove he's continuing to gain weight while taking all his feeds by bottle we could stay on the weekend then pick him up when he's ready. The doc asked if we could stay on Sunday, and I thought he just meant in general, so I told him Justin has to work on Mondays which makes Sunday night like a weeknight for us, but we could stay Friday or Saturday night. This morning it occurred to me that I think he meant THIS SUNDAY! Justin has Monday off, so we can totally do that! I called this morning to check on Will as usual and asked the nurse to ask the doctor if that's what he meant, but the doctor wasn't handy so she told me that's what he implied to her earlier. Will completely nippled all of his feeds last night and so far this morning except one had 8 CC leftover (trivial), he stayed off his cannula oxygen but needed oxygen blown once, he gained weight up to 6 lb 0.3 oz this morning, and passed his car seat test! So if he keeps it up, no more major apnea spells, continues to nipple all his feeds and gain weight he'll be home on MONDAY! He could even be home sooner if the doctor lets him! I'm so excited and relieved I don't know what to do, the guys are here installing our water softener and iron filter, and I'm just sitting at my computer bawling! My baby should be coming home and we're counting in days instead of weeks or theories! He's 9 weeks old tomorrow and he's coming home!
