July 18, 12 month checkup

Will was 19 lb 3 oz (10th percentile) and 29 1/2 inches (45th!! percentile). So he's tall and skinny right now! he got 2 shots and was a real trooper, he squawked once or twice for one, the other he didn't even bat an eye. So proud of my little bug! Doc also gave us the go ahead to use whole cow's milk. She said remove the valve from the sippy cup and try offering it first thing in the morning before he even sees a bottle with the mix we've been feeding him, and when we run out of the formula I have left to just use cow's milk. Since the formula is milk based he shouldn't have a problem with milk. She also said to continue offering him high calorie solids, and to try offering him finger foods like fries and tater tots, chicken nuggets and cheese before he sees a bottle at lunch - she suggested not even getting it out of the fridge because once he sees it he'll know he's going to get it, so we'll see if that helps any.

His belly button is still an outie but it looks like his hernia has completely repaired itself. He's behind on getting teeth (average now is 6, he has 4), behind on talking (he doesn't say anything consistently, he said a few words for a while but has stopped - doc thinks he's spending his learning on more physical milestones right now), behind on using the sippy cup and behind on eating solids. Doc was impressed with his hand eye coordination, ability to manipulate objects, walking with hands held, cruising, solo standing, pincher grasp and the single finger poke. So overall doing pretty good, about what I expected just taller!
