Will had a much better day today. He's less fussy and tense after the change in formula and Mylicon. The doctor thinks it's the Mylicon drops, he said the formula change wouldn't show results that quickly. I gave him a bath with Johnson's moisture wash instead of the baby wash the hospital uses, it smells so much better! So he was nice and snuggly-good smelling :) We worked with the occupational therapist again this afternoon, she is still impressed with his muscle tone. He has a slight navel hernia that has been coming and going and that looked pretty bad today, but the doctor said there is no benefit from any treatment for it, it usually self-corrects by age 2 years and if not then they treat it. He was very awake from the bath so he did great nursing, and the occupational therapist showed me a way to do compression so he gets milk easier and he got quite a bit. I'm much more optimistic about our odds successfully breastfeeding after that, before he's gotten small amounts of milk but not enough to really justify the work he has to do to get it. He took most of the rest of his feeding by bottle and a tiny little bit had to be gavaged. I brought in the finished guideline for Will's care today, and the occupational therapist looked that over and approved. He's getting slightly anemic so they may try to put him back on the Endogen or recommend another transfusion, I don't approve of putting him back on Endogen so we may be looking for another treatment option. His weight is up to 5 lb 10 oz today and he's looking great!
