I was scheduled for my c-section today, but went into labor and Evelyn Marie was born by c-section at 6:27 PM Wednesday March 5. I rescheduled my prenatal visit from Thursday to Wednesday, good thing, I didn't feel that different, the same contractions I've had for weeks, but turns out I was in progressing labor so the doctor sent me over to the hospital to deliver her early. She weighed 7 lb 4 oz, 19 inches long, apgars of 8 & 9. We're calling her Evie mostly, pronounced E V. She has dark blue newborn eyes, some dark hair, long fingers and a head shaped like a Cabbage Patch doll. She was able to pick her head up while laying tummy down on my chest a couple times today, she's pretty strong. She's pretty quiet but has a bit of a temper. We're having trouble breastfeeding and she is failing to thrive because she lost so much weight, we're working on that and in the meantime I'm pumping and using pumped milk to supplement using a bottle and help her catch up. The nurse wanted me to supplement with formula but I said no, I have plenty of milk she's just not laching or feeding well. We have some other tools to try helping her learn, we'll see how it goes. She also has some jaundice, if it gets any worse we need to report to the pediatrician. I'm exhausted, she's a night owl and hard to feed so I'm not getting much sleep at all. Trying to limit my painkiller use but took the good stuff for the ride home today and I'm still a bit out of it. I'm feeling pretty rough, but better than I did before she was born, and much better than I did after having Will. It was a c-section as expected, I have dissolvable stitches and tape.
